Hello!
I'm wondering if I'm the only one out there who is having an impossible time dealing with multiple session portrait packages. I do shoot weddings. However, the bulk of my business is portrait sessions and I find myself constantly working around wedding related photography structure. Not a big deal.
However, I have several portrait packages that include multiple portrait sessions. For example, a baby to one year program that includes 10 total sessions and a number of products. The way the system is now it makes it nearly impossible to use tave effectively. A major reason I need a management system is to curtail and keep track of my workflow. I've attached a screen shot of what my tasks look like on a job (package) like this. As you can see, it's a complete nightmare and somewhat useless.
There is no way to effectively schedule my sessions either that I can figure out. They are all lumped together. Do other people deal with this? What do you do to work around this? I've created new jobs with a sales invoice of $0. Is there a better way? I don't want a bunch of $0 sales invoices showing up on the client access page. It just looks unprofessional, but if that's what it takes for the time being ...
Desperately seeking organization,
Kate

If you mark the product as Deliverable, then they will group under the product itself rather than all together at the job level. That's probably the best way to clean that up. Only you change that, any new orders will have those tasks grouped under a deliverable with the product's name.
In 3.0, we're moving the product workflow out of the product editor so you can reuse the same workflow for multiple products. That'll make it even easier as you can easily have a separate product for each of those sessions without having to re-enter all the workflow.
Thanks Adrian.
I've gone in and marked all of the products included in a package, including the sessions themselves, as deliverable. I created a new job and a new quote for a client that wants a baby session package. I booked it and took a look at the Deliverable Items. Screen shot attached- the tasks are still non distinguishable. What am I doing wrong? Is there something in the product's actual work task I need to be doing?
Thanks for your help,
Kate
Ah, that's interesting.
Yeah I just looked at the code. This is something added to 3.0 as we completely overhauled the way packages work there.
Sorry for the mix up.
Update: I filed a ticket with our 3.0 bug tracker to look into moving these package item tasks into their own deliverables during the 3.0 migration when we update the packages.
Thanks for the update Adrian! Super excited for 3.0 and hoping there are more multi-portrait session friendly package options available.

Yeah there are for sure. And even then, after 3.0 is out the door I plan to look even harder at what we can do to continue that trend of improving the portrait studio's experience.
Fabulous! I'm more than happy to be a guinea pig if you need to pick brains!
